Dog days!

So here are the doggy pics. This puppy is 1 month old. He is an Irish wolfhound. I think they are considered the fastest growing dog that there is. They are also generally considered the tallest breed of dog.

The bigger puppy here, Tucker, is a little over a year old. He is actually kind of short for a Wolfie, but he is extremely cute. This puppy decided he needed a kiss. :-)

Here is Kaelah with my favorite dog. Riley is the best doggy there ever was. He was born one month before Kaelah. I will never forget Kaelah's mom, Diane, 8 months pregnant delivering puppies. Her doctor told her when she had Kaelah that he had never seen such strong abs on a pregnant woman! Poor Diane. Unfortunately because of the size difference in newborns and their mothers, you have to be there constantly. The mom has a tendency to accidently kill the babies while they are being born if left to their own devices. On this particular batch the mom had a really hard time delivering and two days into it, she had to get a c-section to save her and one more baby. I am pretty sure that Diane was up for three days straight with no more than a few snatched minutes of sleep out in the garage with the mom. Believe me, its tough work.

Kaleah, sharing her home and life with so many dogs has learned the art of begging. :-) This is her literally begging to be allowed to take a picture of me and Riley. I was resisting since I was not prepared to be photographed (i.e. no shower and no makeup!). But, as usual, I gave in!

So hereis what I look like early in the morning. No so pretty let me tell you. but Riley, now, he is adorable! :-) These dogs take some getting used to since they are so huge and hairy and funny looking, but once you get to know them, you just love them to death. Well, hopefully, I didn't bore everyone too much. Believe me, there is never a boring day dealing with these guys. If anyone is intrigued and would like to see some more go to www.baineskennel.com/iw . That is my boss' website and they have a couple pics of how small these pups are when they are born (in laundry basket) and a pic of big old Duncan sitting in a kids chair. Duncan weighed 220 pounds in his prime. Thanks for letting me share!

Nothing much to talk about....

I haven't really taken any new pics since Christmas. I need to get busy on that. My boss has a kennel that breeds Irish Wolfhounds and just before Christmas they had a litter. I want to get some pics of them to show everyone. It is really amazing how big they get so fast! So stay tuned to that one!

Poor Jade has allergies, so she has had a constant runny nose. They are about to put her on allergy meds though, so hopefully that will help. She is such a sweetie. This aunt wishes she could see her much more often than she does.

Kyles's parents were here for Christmas and his mom wanted to tour some of Lexington, KY. It is really pretty down there even in the ugliness of winter. My Grandpa used to live there so I was excited to see this castle again that he used to drive me by when I visited. I guess the story is that a man decided to build a castle but ran out of funds, so had to abandon it. It looks like they are actually doing work on it right now though, so maybe one day it will actually be finished. Either way, it is an extremely impressive sight, and not necessarily something you would expect to see in the Kentuckian countryside. :-)
